Jen Quinn

ARTISTIC ASSOCIATE 2019-2020

Jen Quinn is a Montréal based Director, Dramaturg, Curator and Producer. Sholds a BFA in Theatre (Directing, Design and Production Management) from the University of Victoria. Hailing from the West Coast, she has done an array of work with a number of Victoria based theatre companies. While at UVic, she was given the opportunity to travel to Xalapa, Mexico where she worked as an assistant director for a play performed in Spanish. She produced, directed and designed an award winning show for the Victoria Fringe Festival. She also “did time” with William Head on Stage, a theatre company based out of a minimum security prison, where she taught a series of theatre workshops to inmates.

Since relocating to Montréal, Jen has collaborated with several local theatre companies. Her direction for Composite Theatre Co.’s I’m Not Here at SummerWorks 2016 earned her an Honourable Mention in the Canadian Stage Award for Direction. Jen had the honor of being a part of the Black Theatre Workshop’s Artist Mentorship Ensemble, through which she worked with Geordie Productions and Tableau D’Hôte Theatre. For four years, Jen was the Head Administrator of the Freestanding Room, where she founded, curated and produced the ShortStanding Festival of Short Performances. Jen joined the Imago Theatre team as Administrative & Artistic Assistant in 2016/17 and later directed The Penelopiad as a part of Imago’s Her Side of the Story : Revision to Resist; working with Imago has enriched Jen’s intersectional feminist art practice.

Jen is currently the President of the Board of Directors for MTL Clowns, the organization that produces Le Festival des Clowns de Montréal annually. Jen joined the Director’s Lab North team in 2018 as Artist Associate after having participated as a Labbie in 2015.
